  • Supertooth comes to New Town Primary

    Published 29/11/22

Children from New Town Primary School in Reading were treated to a visit from a real life superhero on Wednesday 5th October, when Supertooth came to school.

Supertooth taught the children the correct way to brush their teeth with a special toothbrushing song. This included the importance of brushing twice a day – morning and night. The children learned what foods are good for their teeth and what are not so much so. The interactive presentation went down well with the children. CJ said “He was a super hero. I learnt to brush my teeth round and round and a cool song” with Emily agreeing “I really liked the song”. Nishta said “he was a bit funny sometimes”. The presentation finished with a promise from everyone to brush for 2 minutes, twice a day!

Headteacher Polly Cornish said "It is so important to teach children good dental hygiene from an early age. So, when we were given the chance to have Supertooth talk to the children, well we jumped at it. What better way to teach young children than to have a real dentist tell them, dressed as a giant tooth!".

Lower Earley Family Dental dentist Toheed Nasir said "I am passionate about children's dental health. If they get their brushing technique right now, it’s a skill for life. I would much rather look into a mouth of clean teeth than have to give children fillings. The children were fantastic, they were really keen. So much so, that I am coming back in a few weeks to speak to the older children - although maybe this time I won't be dressed as a tooth".

Rushall Farm enjoys an amazing setting in West Berkshire on a working organic farm. The children gained so much from their experience taking part in activities like – orienteering, fire lighting, bivouac building, pond dipping and raft making. Experiences that will last a lifetime.
