New Town Primary SchoolRespect For All

Our schools

The Multi Academy Trust is currently made up of two schools, each unique and distinct, but sharing some common key values.

St John’s Primary School is a community working together in partnership to develop lifelong learners. It is a multi-cultural, multi-faith, Church of England Primary School in the midst of a richly diverse community. The school has a strong school ethos where 'Everyone Matters', and the unique integral placement of the church at the heart of the school allows the school family easy access for collective worship where they celebrate their rich cultural heritage and explore their gifts and talents as a school family. Allied to this are the school’s fantastic children who are whole-heartedly committed to St John’s. They are proud of their school and of their learning and achievements they make. As such they are committed to education and want to improve their learning. They are the greatest asset and achievement of St John’s and integral to all that happens at the school.

New Town Primary School is a school family working together in partnership to develop a love of learning and respect for one another, in a beautiful Victorian building situated in East Reading on the Kennet and Avon Canal. This community school is in the midst of a richly diverse community and has a strong school ethos where staff and children live and breathe ‘Respect for All’.  Collective worship takes place daily, celebrating the school’s rich cultural background and exploring strengths together. New Town’s children’s needs, whether academic, behavioural or emotional, are at the heart of its provision and decision making.  Their pupils are rightfully proud of their achievements and enjoy celebrating these as part of a close-knit school family whilst developing the school’s ethos of respect, love, tolerance and honesty.  New Town is a safe haven of love and care for the pupils who attend it.

The school’s key values are those of love, tolerance, respect and honesty.  Whilst New Town is a community school, and therefore broadly Christian in character as required by law, the school welcomes all, regardless of faith and ethnic background, and works together in harmony to show these core values to one another and behave in accordance with these.
