Covid Testing for Parents and Carers

You may have heard from recent media reports that the latest Covid 19 guidance came into effect from 1 March, and that families of pupils at school are now being advised to self-test.  If you’re a member of a household, childcare bubble or support bubble with a pupil attending school, you are now advised to twice-weekly test.  This can be accessed through your employer if they are testing employees, at a local test site, by collecting a home test kit from a test site, or by ordering a home test kit online.

About 1 in 3 people with coronavirus do not have symptoms but can still pass it on to others. Regular testing of people without symptoms is important to help stop the virus spreading and protect your loved ones. As lockdown restrictions gradually ease we all need to play our part to help protect each other.

Please follow this link for further details, including finding a local home test collection point and online ordering information:

If collecting from a test site you will be given two boxes of lateral flow tests and each box contains seven tests.  This is enough for one person to twice-weekly test for seven weeks. There are many test collection points; local collection sites in Reading are based at:

Prospect Park, Liebenrood Road, RG30 2ND

The University of Reading, The Great Hall, 27 London Road Campus RG1 5AQ.

Both are open daily, 1.30-7pm and no appointment is necessary.

If you have any questions about the testing please visit the link above or contact 119 for further advice,
