Free School Meal Vouchers
We have been contacted by many parents enquiring about the Free School Meal (FSM) Vouchers. To clarify FSM Vouchers are only for children whose parents/carers are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
If your circumstances have changed during COVID 19 and you wish to check if you are eligible for benefits related Free School Meals please contact the school office who can re-check with Reading Borough Council using your National Insurance details. The school will issue vouchers when confirmation of entitlement is received.
Under the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meal initiative all children attending an Infant School receive a free meal however the Government has chosen to concentrate their effort and resources on those who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals at this time. There is no requirement to continue to provide Universal Infant Free School Meals to pupils in Reception, Year 1, or Year 2 during COVID 19. Only children in those year groups who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals will be supported and will receive a FSM Voucher.
We continue to issue FSM Vouchers through the Government's Scheme administrator, Edenred, which will be emailed to you directly using the email address registered on ParentPay. Their user guide and FAQs for the scheme are attached below and if you need further support from them you can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Change4Life have created recipes and shopping lists which can be used to make lunches for around £15 each week. For more information, please click here.
Marks & Spencers are offering additional support to families receiving free school meals vouchers by adding £5 to every weekly £15 voucher, bringing the total value of the voucher to £20. The additional £5 will ensure that children can receive an extra daily meal and eat both a healthy and nutritious breakfast and lunchtime meal. M&S has produced a downloadable weekly meal planner to help parents prepare five simple, nutritious breakfasts and lunches for under £20 (for two children). This can be found below. To redeem the voucher simply exchange your eCode provided by Edenred for an M&S eGift card via Edenred. M&S will then add a further £5 to the same £15 eGift card within a few hours of receipt making this a £20 M&S e-voucher to spend on food in store. When shopping in store, simply hand over the voucher at payment and the value will scan as £20.
If you have any further questions or queries about the scheme, please let us know.
