Information about school closure

The Prime Minister made an unprecedented announcement to close UK schools at the end of Friday 20 March and is closed until further notice

Following the announcement by the Prime Minister on the 11th May, we advise that there is no change to the guidance for those who are eligible for a school place at this time.  We will continue to provide care for our vulnerable children and for children of key workers only. The message is still that it is safer to stay at home. We expect to receive further information from the DfE on how we should open our school to more pupils when it is safe to do so and when the time is right.  We will communicate this to parents in due course, as we know more.

During the closure, it is important that children are given opportunities to work at home. Please see here for more information.

There is a useful PDF attached below from Berkshire West NHS about coping with family life during the lockdown, along with other useful resources.

Which pupils are eligible to attend school during the closure?

Guidance states that, ‘If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.’  Schools will, of course, offer places to children of parents /carers who are listed as key workers and are working to support our country against the Coronavirus and have no alternative, appropriate childcare.

If you have a social worker, your child has an EHCP or your child may be vulnerable, we will be phoning you to discuss your individual situation and we will send you details of further arrangements in a separate letter.

During this time, if you are a key worker who needs to access school to enable you to work, then please email to request.

Claiming free school meals during the school closure:

Children who are registered at school for a free school meal are eligible for government funded supermarket vouchers each week. Those parents have been contacted. Anyone who has not received their voucher codes or is having difficulty claiming them should email

In addition, if you are in need of support with food, please contact Readifood by completing their online form to order a food parcel or Wycliffe Church to join their Foodshare scheme.
