Information about school closure and re-opening
Official guidance from the government is clear that primary schools are now open, with attendance being made statutory once again. Unfortunately this means that absences withouit a valid reason, as agreed with the Headteacher, will be unauthorised and Reading Borough Council could issue a fine for non-attendance.
As school is now open to all pupils, with the government expecting them to attend, we are not able to offer an alternative online teaching platform so children can stay at home. Should the school have to close either as a result of a local or national lockdown again, the government has asked us to be prepared to provide online teaching from then, however, especially at a primary level, this is widely recognised as being significantly less effective for pupils at this age, even if they have the technology to access it.
