Play Therapy
We are so lucky to be able to be providing therapeutic play at school and we give personal invitations to children to attend 1:1 Play Therapy sessions. This is a gentle, non-intrusive method of working with children who need a little help to support their emotional and learning needs.
Many children need support in emotional literacy. Play is now widely recognised as being beneficial in the emotional development of children as it has a therapeutic value. Therapeutic play can only be used for slight to mild/moderate problems and therapeutic play has a valuable function in preventing slight or mild problems becoming worse.
Dan James is a trainee therapeutic play practitioner who has almost completed his clinical hours for his qualification. He has many years’ experience in education as a teacher, SENCO and teacher trainer at university. He works with invited children for one 40-minute session every week until we review the progress.
Each session is held in a quiet space, The Glade, where your child will not be disturbed. You will be invited to meet with the therapist at the start of the sessions and will receive updates during the year, with an end of year report in July.
